Mentors 2022/23

Anna Fedorova is one of the world's premier pianists. From an early age, she demonstrated an innate musical maturity and outstanding technical abilities. She has a thriving international concert career. Audiences around the world have been “completely taken by surprise, compelled and astonished” by the depth and power of her musical expression.

Ukrainian pianist Borys Fedorov has been teaching for more than three decades at the Kiev State Conservatory and at the Lysenko Kiev Specialized Musical College For Exceptional Young Talents. His passion for coaching young pianists for competitions, concerts and CD recordings has helped many of his students with their international careers. 

Tatiana Abaieva has been training young piano students for several decades. Many of her students are internationally successful concert pianists. After being one of Ukraine's most prominent piano teachers, she now lives in The Netherlands continuing to share her knowledge and experience as a full time professor at the Davidsbündler Music Academy.

Antonii is a prominent Ukrainian pianist and a winner of the First Prize in some of the most prestigious international piano competitions such as the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition, “Premio Jaen”, and F. Busoni International Piano Competition. He is a solo artist of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine and teaches master classes in Ukraine and abroad.

Having commenced her international career at the age of eleven, Hanna Shybayeva has transformed from being a 'child prodigy' to the mature and exciting musician she is today. Her playing has been praised by both the public and the press for her deep musical interpretations, captivating energy, a great sense of form and a rich colour palette. Devoted to music in every form, Hanna enjoys her solo performances as much as being a partner in both chamber and vocal music. Hanna is a piano professor at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

Dutch/English violinist Daniel Rowland’s playing has been acclaimed as “wonderful, ravishing in its finesse” by The Guardian, as “both naked and highly virtuosic“ by NRC, while The Herald praised his “astonishing sound and uniquely single-minded intensity”. Daniel has established himself on the international scene as a highly versatile, charismatic and adventurous performer, with a wide-ranging repertoire. He is also an acclaimed violin teacher and will combine his teaching activities in The Hague with his work at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

Concertmaster of the Concertgebouw Orchestra, Liviu won the Prix International Eugène Ysaÿe in 1993, as well as the Audience Prize and second prize at the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition. Winning the Juilliard Mendelssohn Competition in 1999 led to his New York solo debut at Lincoln Center with the Juilliard Symphony. Prunaru has since given solo performances with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra. He regularly gives recitals throughout the world.

Rosanne Philippens is an extraordinary communicator, with an innate musicality and an infectiously joyful yet sincere approach to music-making. She is in high demand across the Netherlands and abroad, where she performs regularly in the major halls and series both as soloist and chamber musician. Recent highlights include performances with the Rotterdam Philharmonic at De Doelen, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic in the prestigious Zaterdag Matinee series and the Residentie Orkest both in The Hague and at the Concertgebouw Hall, Amsterdam.

Concertmaster of the Residency Orchestra and member of the Storioni Trio, Wouter Vossen brings a positive energy and temperament to his multifacited career as a concert violinist. Originally from the Netherlands, he is a frequent guest of the classical music stages throughout Europe and abroad.

Besides being a member of the Brackman Trio, he is also a member of the Animato Quartet. Tim has been the artistic director of the Podium Eibergen foundation since 2018.

Natalia has performed with great musicians such as Nelson Goerner, Vadim Repin, Maurice Bourgue, Nino Gvetadze and many more. She performed as a soloist with orchestras in Austria, the Netherlands, Germany, Georgia and Poland, recorded numerous CDs and made many television and radio appearances. She was also a member of the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra

Floor Le Coultre winner of the Young Dutch Music talent title in 2011, has established herself as a passionate and profound chamber musician.

Winner of numerous competitions, Dana Zemtsov is one of the most promising international viola soloists of her generation. She is 1st Prize laureate of several competitions in Luxembourg, Italy, Austria, Germany, Portugal and the Netherlands. 

Viola professor at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Lilli is one of the most sought after solo violists and chamber musicians. Former principal violist of the Helsinki Philharmonic, Lilli was a member of the critically acclaimed, fearless quartet-lab with cellist Pieter Wispelwey and violinists Patricia Kopatchinskaja and Pekka Kuusisto. She appears regularly on the top stages of Europe and abroad.

In December 2017, Santa Vižine joined the violas of the Concertgebouw Orchestra. Since January 2022 she is first principal violist. From 2009 to the 2016/17 season, she was principal violist of Gidon Kremer’s chamber orchestra Kremerata Baltica. Santa is originally from Riga, Latvia. is a laureate of several Latvian and international competitions.  

Georgian-German violist Georgy Kovalev is one of the leading violists of his generation. He is principal violist of the Amsterdam Sinfonietta and is a prize winner and a finalist of international competitions such as Yuri Bashmet International Competition in Moscow, Tokyo International Viola Competition, Brahms International Competition. He appears regularly at leading chamber music festivals in Europe and abroad.

Hailed by The Strad after her Carnegie Hall recital for “an outstanding performance of exceptional tonal beauty, great maturity of interpretation, and technical excellence”, Maja Bogdanovic continues to reward audiences worldwide as one of the leading cellists of today.

The Israeli/Dutch cellist Timora Rosler took first prize at the 1996 Stuttgart International Cello Competition. In 1997 she won the Vriendenkrans of the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. She was praised by the jury as follows: ‘Timora Rosler has a capturing talent, intimate expressiveness, virtuosity and a natural feeling for the composition … Her interpretation is exceptionally fascinating.’ Rosler is a professor of cello at the Utrecht Conservatory of Music, and has given masterclasses all across Europe.

“He displays an unusually beautiful musical temperament. His music-making is intelligent and pragmatic, yet colourful and poetic". First prize winner of the International Society of Bassists and Stulburg International Competitions, and regular guest at numerous international chamber music festivals, Nicholas is a double bassist in the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra since 2013. He is unique as a double bassist as he also plays and performs as a cellist.
