About the event


Ivan Petrenko is a 16 year old Ukrainian pianist already known for his brilliant artistry and deep musical sensibility. He embarked on his piano journey at the age of 4.5 and made his debut at 7. By the age of 8, Ivan began participating in various all-Ukrainian, international, and regional competitions, consistently earning first prizes. His international competition debut was at 8 years old in Prague, where he secured the 1st prize. In 2021, Ivan achieved the 1st prize at the International Evgen Stankovych competition in Kyiv, Ukraine. During the spring of 2023, he won the 1st prize at the "Merci, Maestro!" competition in Belgium and in 2024 the 1st prize at the International Krainev Piano Competition, "Kharkiv Meets Zurich", held in Switzerland. At the age of 11, he joined the Kyiv State Music Lyceum under the tutelage of the Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine, Tetiana Abaieva. Starting in September 2022, Ivan continued his musical education with Tetiana Abaieva and Honored Artist of Ukraine Borys Fedorov at the Davidsbündler Music Academy in The Hague. Throughout the past year (2022-2023), he spent considerable time in the Netherlands, participating in prestigious events such as the TV program "Podium Klassik," the Piano Duo Festival in Amsterdam, and "Davidsbündler Fest," where he performed in the Recital Hall of Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. In August 2023, Ivan took part in the "RCO Young" project, playing in orchestras and chamber music groups. His performances were featured in the Main Halls of Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, and Konzerthaus, Berlin.
